syrup on Reykjavik.

Kevin just pointed out that super-agency syrup had used my font Reykjavik for stocker, the super jeans company.
Super honored.
Setting the Keystone

Armchair Media has built a formidable team in the last few years, adding depth in the areas of strategy, design, technology and project management. But this week we've added what may be the final piece of the puzzle.
Meet Robert Walker, our new director of client services and brand development. Robert arrives with a boatload of talent and experience that is a perfect complement to the skills we've been cultivating for the past five years. He comes from the big agency world having spent time at, among others, Merkley+Partners, an Omnicom stablemate, where he tackled domestic and international accounts, targeting both consumers and the B2B market. But don't let the Madison Avenue credentials fool you. He's intimately familiar with the one-on-one service environment of the small business having run his own shop, Wit, where we met while collaborating on a project.
Robert's experience with agencies and brands gives us the power to serve our clients at an entirely different level. Want to know how? You'll just have to give him a call.

Armchair Media wins Flash Forward for Best Motion

Against fierce competition such as Comcastic, Altoids and City Stadium, Armchair Media took home best motion design award for Coca-Cola M5 at Flash Forward 2006.
Big respect to Marc Mathieu, Peter Schelstraete at Coca-Cola for trusting us to take the company out of their comfort zone.
Thanks to North Kingdom and Mattias Lindberg some of the world's best Flash animation talents who masterminded and brought to life source material from superstars Lobo, Rex, MK12, the Designers Republic and Caviar, art directed by Peter Rentz at Graphic Havoc.

Time for a New TV (guide)

TVGuide.com has just relaunched. Pretty simple, clean interface with a couple of embedded widgets. Minor bugs here and there on their first day, but otherwise nice and straightfoward.
Check it out.
'Unbox' Unbig

Amazon has finally launched its entry into the increasingly crowded field of video players with movie/tv show downloads. TV episode prices are comparable to iTunes. Movie prices are comparable to what you would pay for the DVD if you bought it on Amazon. This, of course, keeps the studios happy since it doesn't undercut DVD revenues. It will be interesting to see how Apple prices its movies when they launch their service later this month.
At first glance, the player feels a bit 'tiny' for what it is. The previews appear in a small window compared to other video services you're used to. This is primarily because they shove it into the Amazon page template. On the plus side, the previews are nice and long, clocking in at around 2:30. My 2 cents: Just because it's from Amazon doesn't mean you have to stick with the standard Amazon wrapper. Tailor the service to the experience.
Toss your box.
Very Viral Ads

This one seems to be picking up some viral steam. Very Funny Ads is a new broadband site from Turner Broadcasting that features just what it claims. And it seems to be doing gangbusters with more than 7 million videos served in the first week.
Paidcontent.org says, "even at this nascent stage it strikes me as one of the more successful viral efforts by a traditional media outlet on its own site."
Thanks! Armchair Media provided interface strategy, design and animations for this little goody. Case study coming soon!
SeƱor Technologist.

Nathan Steiner's name is synonimous with web standards. He's the founder of Twinsparc and Say-So. He makes Turkish coffee better than most Turks.
Most importantly he's a gentleman and scholar.
And.
As of this morning Nate is Armchair Media's Senior Technologist.
Work is good.
